A Real Cool Hand

Today, I woke up to the sad news the Paul Newman died. Born in 1925, Paul Newman was one of my favorite actors of all time. One of my favorite movies EVER is Cool Hand Luke. To me, it doesn't get any better than this film and this guy.

Here's my favorite scene. I can remember my dad reciting this line for as long as i could remember. Its a classic!!!

New Keane Video

First off, I cant believe that my last blog was on September 8th. Where did the month go!?!?!?

Today, Keane released their first video from their upcoming CD. The song is called "Spiralling" and the video is highly conceptual in its interpretation. I hope you like it.

"You Know That! You Went to Harvard!"

Part 2 of the O'Reilly interview with Obama. It was amusing when Obama said that raising taxes is to act "neighborly." Its a fact, that higher taxes inhibit economic growth and increases government spending.

Russell Brand Is A !(##)$_@!

This nutbar from the UK is exactly why the I have great distain for the left. It will be a cold day in hell before I allow a foreign citizen to dictate who I should vote for. He relished in the opportunity to attack Palin's daughter and boyfriend by calling him a little boy. Guess what Russell Brand, that "boy" is a hockey player and can kick your white british ass back the London.

Encore

A turning tide
Lovers at a great divide
Why d'you laugh?
When I know that you're hurt inside?

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say?
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

A tell-tale sign
You don't know where to draw the line

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

Well for a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time

(Just...)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...another day, nothing in my way, I..)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay. just..)
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
(... another day, nothing in my way; Don't know what you lie for...)
You're having such a nice time
(...anyway)

Disractions

Why does it seem that everything in my life right now is nothing more than a distraction? A distraction from reality that all of us avoid to confront and deal with.

RNC Night Two

Here are few highlights from tonight's Republican National Convention. Tonight, the nation was formally introduced to Sarah Palin. She gave an inspiring speech that will motivate the Republican base and dispelled any notions that she is not qualified to be Vice President. Outlining that she has more decision making experience than Obama, Palin is a force to be reckoned with in this election.

Rudy Guiliani preceded Gov. Palin and hammered Obama on his credentials as a failed community organizer who has been on the campaign trail for over half his term as US Senator. As the election draws closer, I pray that more people will realize that Obama is not ready to be President.

If I were a democrat, I would be concerned right about now...All those people who cling to religion and guns will be voting and not for Barack Obama.

A Simple Criticism

I have been wrestling with a few statements made by Mega-Church Pastor Rick Warren. Recently, he has developed a bold, ambitious plan to combat the five "global giants" affecting the world today. These giants include; Spiritual Emptiness, Self-Serving Leadership, Extreme Poverty, Pandemic Diseases, and Rampant Illiteracy. His method to attack these problems is known as the P.E.A.C.E plan. The acronym stands for Promote Reconciliation, Equip Leaders, Assist the Poor, Care for the Sick, and Educate the Next Generation. Overall, I think that Warren has unveiled a honest and well intentioned plan to help the millions of people living in distress.

My criticism is not directly related to the Peace Plan but rather indirectly. I have often heard him make statements such as this:
“You know, 500 years ago, the first Reformation with Luther and then Calvin, was about beliefs. I think a new reformation is going to be about behavior. The first Reformation was about creeds; I think this one will be about deeds. ... The first Reformation actually split Christianity into dozens and then hundreds of different segments. I think this one is actually going to bring them together. Now, you’re never going to get Christians, of all their stripes and varieties, to agree on all of the different doctrinal disputes and things like that, but what I am seeing them agree on are the purposes of the church. ... Last week I spoke to 4,000 pastors at my church who came from over 100 denominations in over 50 countries. Now, that’s wide spread. We had Catholic priests, we had Pentecostal ministers, we had Lutheran bishops, we had Anglican bishops, we had Baptist preachers. They’re all there together and you know what? I’d never get them to agree on communion or baptism or a bunch of stuff like that, but I could get them to agree on what the church should be doing in the world.

I humbly suggest that Warren's view of church history is shortsighted. To state that the Reformation led by Luther and later Calvin was simply one of beliefs is to totally misrepresent their accomplishments. Yes, it was founded on the realization that the Roman Church was a false church which taught the greek humanist principle of Free Will. Luther saw through the fraud and revolted but stood on the principle of sola scriptura (scripture alone).

The Reformation transformed the landscape of western Europe and liberated millions of people living under the oppression of the RCC. This freedom affected culture on every level. In the arts, there was Rembrant, Bach, and Luther. Intellectually, again there was Luther, Calvin, the Dutch Reformers, and later William Wilberforce. Politically, it brought reforms to government and the United States is considered an extension of the ideals of the Reformation. In conclusion, to reduce the first reformation as one of only "beliefs" and not deeds is a poor summary of one of the single greatest periods of the modern era.

Those are my thoughts...Am I wrong with this??

RNC Night One

The left-wing nuts at the NY Times have decided to destroy Sarah Palin. With a barrage of Ant-Palin articles in today's NY Times, it is apparent that John McCain's decision to add Palin to the ticket is a serious threat to the liberal cause. I think its amusing and laughable that they mention Palin' s husband's DUI arrest 22 years ago yet they praise Barack Obama who admitted to using cocaine. Both actions should be denounced but I doubt the NY Times has the desire to go down that unpleasant route.

Palin has more executive level decision making experience than the democratic nominee for President!!! She has fought corruption within her own party in one of the most corrupt states in the union. She is a real voice for reform and change. On the other hand, since assuming his role as US Senator in 2005, Barack Obama has spent the majority of his time running for president. Are we supposed to trust a failed community organizer who partnered himself with US terrorist Bill Ayers?? Barack has ZERO experience to lead this nation on day one. That is a chance that I am not willing to take.

From the Gipper

“‘Trust me’ government asks that we concentrate our hopes and dreams on one man; that we trust him to do what’s best for us. My view of government places trust not in one person or one party, but in those values that transcend persons and parties. The trust is where it belongs—in the people. The responsibility to live up to that trust is where it belongs, in their elected leaders. That kind of relationship, between the people and their elected leaders, is a special kind of compact.” —Ronald Reagan
