How Obama Got Elected

Dummies like these really make me upset. Electing a President should be an important and informed decision. The problem not the fact that people knew nothing about Barack Obama. The problem is the CLEAR and BLATENT media bias against Sarah Palin and John McCain. This election was disgusting. Joe Biden said something stupid everyday but it was glossed over by the mainstream media. Barack Obama is not a uniter but a sly Chicago politician who has no real bi-partisan record. God help this nation!

The Freshmatic Ultra

My parents bought this contraption called the Airwick Freshmatic Ultra. It automatically releases a small burst of air freshener in 36 minute intervals. This thing scares the crap out of me every time. Do not buy this product! It always catches me by surprise! The first time it sprayed, I thought the TV was going to explode because it was placed on our entertainment center. I can foresee a machine such as this falling into the hands of terrorists who will fill the canister with a deadly virus and kill anyone within a 30 ft. radius. Now that I think about it, that sounds like a good "24" episode.
Do not buy this product!

Searching.....

I've been confronted with many crises during the years but today, I am faced with making a decision that will alter my life for many years to come. Its hard to change. I personally have a difficult adjusting to new situations. But the time has come to move on and to do something new with my life. I am scared, worried, sad, and unsure about my current situation but I think the choice is clear.

"Are you insured?"

Oh the joys, of daytime commercials. When I was a kid, the Survival Insurance Ads were the best! Here are two of my favorites.

So stupid but I laugh everytime!

Why McCain Lost

Here are three things John McCain should have done but didn't do:
  1. Refusing to bring up Obama's 20 yr. association Jeremiah Wright nearly destroyed his campaign during the primary season was a critical error. McCain had legitimate grounds to call into question Obama's friendship with this hateful man.
  2. Instead of going along with the Paulson bailout plan, McCain should have resisted the proposal on principle. He would have had the support of the Republican House and the American public.
  3. Let Palin, Be Palin!!!
The McCain campaign was running neck and neck with the Obama campaign until mid-september. Blindsided by the worst economic collapse since the great depression, John McCain's reaction was erratic and ill-conceived. Although, I think it is ridiculous that Obama earns credit for his reaction to the meltdown because he did absolutely nothing.

President Elect Obama

Well, America has spoken and they have elected the most liberal and most partisan democrat to be President of the United States. I wonder how many people will regret this decision four years from now.

If I Had a Crystal Ball...

If I had a crystal ball I would have laid down some serious cash on the Tampa Bay Rays. At the beginning of the baseball season, they were a 200-1 longshot to win the World Series. Poised to win it all, the Rays have shocked the baseball world and have the opportunity to end their improbable run with a World Series Championship.

The 2008 Race

You will be shocked and upset when you listen to this segment from The Howard Stern Show. Its scary that people will vote for a man for whom they obviously know nothing about. Wanna bet these people were registered to vote by ACORN? The more I listen to this, the more I am convinced that this election is all about race and nothing else.

Favorite MLB Playoff Commercials

As the playoffs continue on TBS and FOX, I am forced to watch the same commercials almost every night. I understand that the marketers are attempting to reach their target audiences, but if I am to endure another "Viva Viagra" commercial I am going to put a hole in the wall. However, there are two commercials that I like tremendously. The first, is by Travelers Insurance. Its the one with the old english man with the giant red umbrella. I think the music is perfect and I often find myself humming the jingle in my mind at different times throughout the day.

The next ad is from Lincoln. Granted, owning and driving a Lincoln is generally reserved for those collecting Social Security but in this edgy ad they are obviously trying to entice more younger drivers. They do this by featuring the music of Daft Punk and their song, "Technologic." Perhaps, they are countering Cadillac's decision to use music from Justice in their commercials.

Mrs. Carder's Class

On Saturday October 11th, the first grade class of Mrs. Carder surprised their teacher as she married her long time gay partner at SF City Hall. Our buddy, the dishonorable Gavin Newsom presided over the ceremony. Support for gay marriage has been slipping in recent days and this event may be the catalyst of its demise in California. The field trip was officially sanctioned by the school and it flies in the face of the recent No On Prop 8 ad that claims gay marriage will have no impact on public education! Watch the ad here:

I find it interesting but it does not surprise me that this story was barely reported outside of San Francisco until today. The YES on Prop 8 campaign have already pounced on this story and once this story hits the TV airwaves, I anticipate a giant backlash against the those who want gay marriage.

Uptown Underground

Last night, I ventured to the Orange County Performing Arts Center to view an exhibit entitled "Slow Dancing" by David Michalek. Projecting onto the stone facade of Segerstrom Hall, "Slow Dancing" features the movements of many top dancers in super, super, slow motion. Capturing every movement with incredible clarity, the viewer is often left mystified. Living in a NOW generation, it was refreshing to slow down and to appreciate the precision of dance.

The event was organized by KCRW and Jason Bentley. Bentley is the DJ of a show called "Metropolis" and it is one of my favorite programs. His show is primarily electronic and features many rare remixes and original songs from today's top rock and electronic acts. I went with my friend RA and his two boys. Before they left, RA introduced me to Jason and that was very cool. Here are a few pics I snapped using my iphone.

Priceless!!!! Just Watch!!!

Obama's "Thug Thizzle"

Read Michelle Malkin's article about Obama's connections to the radical group known as ACORN. A group currently under investigation for voter fraud, ACORN is hell bent on the supporting the dangerous and radical policies of Barack Obama.

Friend of Terrorists?

What is Barack Obama's real relationship with homeland terrorist Bill Ayers? The media has long avoided Obama's close relationships with corrupt felons and domestic terrorists. The nation should demand that he respond to these questions about his judgement.

1. What precisely was the nature of Senator Obama’s relationship with convicted real estate developer Tony Resko? Why did he engage in a real estate deal with Rezko when he was under federal investigation? What “advice” did he give Obama about buying a house in Chicago?

2. Why has Obama proclaimed that he has been fighting alongside ACORN, a radical leftwing organization, his “entire career”?

3. What exactly has been Obama’s experience with ACORN?

4. What was the nature of the “training” Obama provided to ACORN activists in Chicago?

5. What exactly occurred during the “actions” that Obama organized as a community organizer? Did the “actions” involve intimidation by any of the participants Obama led?

6. Why did ACORN activists humiliate bankers into giving bad loans after Obama trained them?

7. Why did Obama seek ACORN’s endorsement in his state senate race?

8. What, if any, support did ACORN provide Obama in his 2004 Senate race?

9. Why was Obama silent on the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform package in 2005?

10. Why did Obama say that sub-prime lending was a “good thing”?

11. Why did Obama support $500 million a year going to ACORN-like organizations in the housing bailout this past summer?

12. Why did the Woods Fund and the Joyce Foundation direct millions to organizations such as ACORN while Obama was serving on the board of those foundations?

13. Why did Madeleine Talbot, one time fiery leader of Chicago ACORN, invite Obama to help train their organizers in the 1990s?

14. Why did Obama attend a fundraiser at George Soros’s home during his 2004 campaign?

15. Why didn’t Obama return campaign contributions from George Soros?

16. Why did Obama vote to raise taxes on people making as little as $42,000 per year?

17. Has Senator Obama or his campaign coordinated with St. Louis law enforcement authorities who are threatening criminal libel charges against critics of Obama who make statements that are found to by law enforcement officials to be “false”?

18. Are the Obama campaign’s “internet action alerts” directing supporters to overwhelm call-in radio show that are critical of Obama consistent with the fair and open campaign the Senator has pledged to run?

19. When did Senator Obama first meet domestic terrorist William Ayers? Did Obama know Ayres as a student at Columbia in the early 1980s?

Palin in So. Cal!

This past Saturday, I went to the Sarah Palin rally at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. I was stunned at the turnout for this event. I arrived 30 minutes after the gates opened and the line was ridiculously long. It took me an hour to get into the stadium but it was well worth it! Once inside, I was surrounded by thousands of people who believed the same as I did on topics such as offshore drilling, ANWR, national security, abortion, less government, and nationalized health care. I strongly believe that the ticket of McCain/Palin have the right approach on most of the key issues facing this nation. Their stance on keeping taxes low is especially important to me in this turbulent economic atmosphere. You don't raise taxes during hard economic periods and if Obama is elected, then I will have grave concerns for the state of our national economy. With 1 trillion dollars in proposed new government spending, I wonder where he plans to get all of this money???

Newt Is The Man

Newt Gingrich understands today's energy crisis. This problem affects us all and we need to abandon the nonsensical, left-wing policies that have handcuffed our great nation. We need to end our dependance on foreign oil and begin to extract America's resources from the outer-continental shelf and from the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge. Nuclear, clean coal, oil shale, solar, and wind power must be included to reduce emissions and to relieve the burden on America's families. America has the resources to end the energy crisis.

Watch this trailer.

Here We Go Again...

The Angels are one game away from elimination yet again to the Boston Red Sox. Tonight's loss was deflating because the Angels left 11 men on base and had plenty of opportunities to win. They clawed their way to even the score in the 8th on a sacrifice fly but in the top of the ninth, JD Drew hammered a two run bomb of Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez. That was all she wrote and the HATED Boston Red Sox defeated the Angels for an MLB record 11th straight postseason victories.

Tonight hurt.

"You Know That! You Went to Harvard!"

Part 2 of the O'Reilly interview with Obama. It was amusing when Obama said that raising taxes is to act "neighborly." Its a fact, that higher taxes inhibit economic growth and increases government spending.

This nutbar from the UK is exactly why the I have great distain for the left. It will be a cold day in hell before I allow a foreign citizen to dictate who I should vote for. Encore

A turning tide
Lovers at a great divide
Why d'you laugh?
When I know that you're hurt inside?

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say?
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

A tell-tale sign
You don't know where to draw the line

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

Well for a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time

(Just...)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...another day, nothing in my way, I..)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
(...don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay. just..)
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
(... another day, nothing in my way; Don't know what you lie for...)
You're having such a nice time
(...anyway)

RNC Night Two

Here are few highlights from tonight's Republican National Convention. Tonight, the nation was formally introduced to Sarah Palin. She gave an inspiring speech that will motivate the Republican base and dispelled any notions that she is not qualified to be Vice President. Outlining that she has more decision making experience than Obama, Palin is a force to be reckoned with in this election.

Rudy Guiliani preceded Gov. Palin and hammered Obama on his credentials as a failed community organizer who has been on the campaign trail for over half his term as US Senator. As the election draws closer, I pray that more people will realize that Obama is not ready to be President.

If I were a democrat, I would be concerned right about now...All those people who cling to religion and guns will be voting and not for Barack Obama.

A Simple Criticism

I have been wrestling with a few statements made by Mega-Church Pastor Rick Warren. Recently, he has developed a bold, ambitious plan to combat the five "global giants" affecting the world today. These giants include; Spiritual Emptiness, Self-Serving Leadership, Extreme Poverty, Pandemic Diseases, and Rampant Illiteracy. His method to attack these problems is known as the P.E.A.C.E plan. The acronym stands for Promote Reconciliation, Equip Leaders, Assist the Poor, Care for the Sick, and Educate the Next Generation. Overall, I think that Warren has unveiled a honest and well intentioned plan to help the millions of people living in distress.

My criticism is not directly related to the Peace Plan but rather indirectly. I have often heard him make statements such as this:
“You know, 500 years ago, the first Reformation with Luther and then Calvin, was about beliefs. I think a new reformation is going to be about behavior. The first Reformation was about creeds; I think this one will be about deeds. ... The first Reformation actually split Christianity into dozens and then hundreds of different segments. I think this one is actually going to bring them together. Now, you’re never going to get Christians, of all their stripes and varieties, to agree on all of the different doctrinal disputes and things like that, but what I am seeing them agree on are the purposes of the church. ... Last week I spoke to 4,000 pastors at my church who came from over 100 denominations in over 50 countries. Now, that’s wide spread. We had Catholic priests, we had Pentecostal ministers, we had Lutheran bishops, we had Anglican bishops, we had Baptist preachers. They’re all there together and you know what? I’d never get them to agree on communion or baptism or a bunch of stuff like that, but I could get them to agree on what the church should be doing in the world.

I humbly suggest that Warren's view of church history is shortsighted. To state that the Reformation led by Luther and later Calvin was simply one of beliefs is to totally misrepresent their accomplishments. Yes, it was founded on the realization that the Roman Church was a false church which taught the greek humanist principle of Free Will. Luther saw through the fraud and revolted but stood on the principle of sola scriptura (scripture alone).

The Reformation transformed the landscape of western Europe and liberated millions of people living under the oppression of the RCC. This freedom affected culture on every level. In the arts, there was Rembrant, Bach, and Luther. Intellectually, again there was Luther, Calvin, the Dutch Reformers, and later William Wilberforce. Politically, it brought reforms to government and the United States is considered an extension of the ideals of the Reformation. In conclusion, to reduce the first reformation as one of only "beliefs" and not deeds is a poor summary of one of the single greatest periods of the modern era.

Those are my thoughts...Am I wrong with this??

RNC Night One

The left-wing nuts at the NY Times have decided to destroy Sarah Palin. With a barrage of Ant-Palin articles in today's NY Times, it is apparent that John McCain's decision to add Palin to the ticket is a serious threat to the liberal cause. I think its amusing and laughable that they mention Palin' s husband's DUI arrest 22 years ago yet they praise Barack Obama who admitted to using cocaine. Both actions should be denounced but I doubt the NY Times has the desire to go down that unpleasant route.

Palin has more executive level decision making experience than the democratic nominee for President!!! She has fought corruption within her own party in one of the most corrupt states in the union. She is a real voice for reform and change. On the other hand, since assuming his role as US Senator in 2005, Barack Obama has spent the majority of his time running for president. Are we supposed to trust a failed community organizer who partnered himself with US terrorist Bill Ayers?? Barack has ZERO experience to lead this nation on day one. That is a chance that I am not willing to take.

From the Gipper

“‘Trust me’ government asks that we concentrate our hopes and dreams on one man; that we trust him to do what’s best for us. My view of government places trust not in one person or one party, but in those values that transcend persons and parties. The trust is where it belongs—in the people. The responsibility to live up to that trust is where it belongs, in their elected leaders. That kind of relationship, between the people and their elected leaders, is a special kind of compact.” —Ronald Reagan

Broadcast Energy Transmitter

In a recent announcement, computer chip maker Intel presented a wireless energy transmitter that would eliminate the use of power cords for everyday electronic devices. Imagine placing your ipod or phone on your desk where it would charge up wirelessly! No more cords!

Hearing this news reminded me of a childhood classic of mine: G.I. Joe: The Movie. Perhaps the greatest animated movie of all time, Cobra-la and GI Joe struggled to control the Broadcast Energy Transmitter (BET). This machine provided wireless energy to anything in range of its beam.

We live in an amazing world! The impossible is now reality.

Trading Blows

Yesterday, both campaigns traded blows after a John McCain interview where he was unsure about how many homes he owned. The Obama campaign sprang into action and touted that McCain is "out of touch" with the American public because of his lavish lifestyle. You can watch the Obama ad here. A few short hours later, the McCain campaign responded with the ad below.

I personally think that it is a load of bologna. Both men are successful and enjoy privilaged lifestyles. For example, according to Obama's tax returns he earned over 4 million dollars last year alone! On the other hand, most of McCain's wealth comes from his wife Cindy and her family trust. In addition, McCain's homes are all listed under Cindy McCain's name and not her husband.

After a month of being pummeled by the McCain campaign, the Obama camp seized the opportunity to attack Sen. McCain. As Obama's poll numbers continue to plummet, it was a welcomed distraction to the campaign trail.

Thoughts On the Civil Forum

On Saturday, I attended the Saddleback Civil Forum. It was an energizing evening and a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch both presidential candidates on the same stage. Rick Warren was the moderator and posed questions related to leadership, faith, worldview, and character. Each candidate was interviewed separately by Warren and the order was decided by a coin toss. Here is how I interpreted the responses from each candidate:
Obama
  • Overall, Obama's performance was solid. He appeared comfortable talking about his faith in Jesus and his shortcomings in his early adult years. Compared to previous Democratic nominees Obama is attempting to break the mold. However, that might worry many secular-progressive democrats.
  • Perhaps Obama's biggest mistake was his definition of human conception. He stated, "Its above my pay-grade." I felt that was a very weak response and will hurt him with the evangelical vote. This apparently a grey area for him...and he waffled on this question.
  • Obama affirmed that marriage is between a man and a woman.
  • Obama's loose references to scripture citing "thinking of the least of these..." to give him the basis for his massive social agenda (socialized medicine, wealth redistribution).  However, I believe that is a distortion of scripture to apply concepts intended to the individual to the state.
  • Biggest surprise: throwing Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas under the bus. Clarence Thomas is the only african-american justice in the Supreme Court.
  • Biggest mistake: his definition of human life.
McCain
  • I felt that John McCain outperformed Senator Obama and provided a unmistakably clear contrast between the two.
  • McCain's style was direct and unequivocal.
  • On abortion: human rights begin "at the moment of conception."
  • On gay marriage: it is a sacred bond between a man and woman.
  • He took full advantage to discuss the conflict in Georgia, the need for offshore drilling, activist judges, national security, and the need to keep taxes low.
  • Often, McCain mentioned his time as a POW during the Vietnam War and how that experience shaped his faith and his character
  • Biggest surprise: citing that the failure of his first marriage as his worst moral mistake
  • Biggest mistake: his definition of "rich"
After watching the debate twice, I believe that McCain ruled the night. Speaking in front of a crowd that was more receptive to his ideas allowed him to settle in and showcase his personality. For someone who has not had the coziest relationship with the evangelical community, McCain took a giant step forward to strengthen the Republican base. Obama, on the other hand appeared uneasy on questions such as the Supreme Court and abortion. He was at times indirect and lacked definitiveness in his responses.

With the 2008 campaign a statistical tie, both candidates will be engaged in a dogfight for every vote. Warren's vision to achieve civility may have been fulfilled for at least one night in the summer of '08. But I wonder if this forum will be remembered as the last moment where both candidates and the nation were one.

The Premiership is Back!

It was a long summer but the English Premier League is back again! Last season, I decided to adopt Chelsea as my football club. Things are looking bright as they have added Portuguese national coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to steer the ship. The club also added Portuguese legend, Deco from Barcelona to the club. Perhaps the biggest deal was the resigning of Frank Lampard to the richest contract in premiership history. Earning 34 million pounds over five years, Lampard's weekly salary is roughly 130,000 GBP (about $243,000 USD). Read more about Lampard

Here's to another exciting season! Go Blues!

Saddleback Civil Forum Moments

Tonight, I had the opportunity to attend the Saddleback Civil Forum in Lake Forest, CA. I went with James and we had a great time. Special thanks to Ange for setting that up! I will post my reactions to McCain and Obama tomorrow but I wanted to jot down a few of the fun moments from this historical evening.
  • The beach volleyball court at the "refinery"
  • The background vocalist who reminded James of Jason Bateman
  • The legion of Secret Service personnel patrolling the Saddleback Campus. I saw them emerge from my friend Amy's area known as "the edge" after performing a security sweep. The agent gave the "thumbs up" signal and all was well.
  • The gigantic drum kit cage in tent 3.
  • Complete audio outage during the Star Spangled Banner.
  • The whistling then singing of the national anthem by the group in tent three.
  • James' and my feeble attempt to start the "U-S-A" chant after the anthem.
  • Me educating the lady in front of us about the story of John McCain
  • The armada of buses that took FOREVER to arrive after the event.
All in all, it was a great afternoon and I was glad to be a part of this small sliver of the 2008 campaign. I will have more tomorrow...

The Surge

Barack Obama has been caught so many times reversing his positions on NAFTA, campaign finance, Iraq, offshore drilling, and "The Surge." Doing anything that can be construed as politically expedient, Obama has not shown to me that he can make difficult choices. His voting record as an Illinois State Senator is a mockery. Voting "present" over 130 times on controversial issues, Obama would rather vote "maybe" instead of "yes" or "no." Recently, the Obama train has stalled and I believe that the American public is wising up to the antics and double talk of Obama.

One issue that compels me to write this entry is "The Surge." US troop casualties are at their lowest levels since the start of the war. If Obama had his way, the United States would have withdrawn in defeat. Now, I do believe that the war must come to an end soon. But, there is a window of opportunity created by the Surge where political stability can take root and the Iraq military can sustain itself. Iraq is improving and Al-Quada has retreated back to Afghanistan. As the video illustrates, Iraq would be a different and more dangerous place if it were not for the Surge.

John McCain did the unpopular thing and supported the Surge. It takes more than just excellent oratory skills to be president. A president must have the fortitude to make decisions on all matters, not just popular ones.

Saddleback Civil Forum

On Saturday, Saddleback Church will be ground zero in the 2008 Presidential Campaign. Pastor Rick Warren will moderate a question and answer session with Barack Obama and John McCain. The event will be televised nationwide and will be a pivotal moment for both campaigns and Saddleback Church.

I am very curious and excited to watch this event. Warren has often invited politicians to his church but this will be the first time that the entire nation will witness a pastor interview both Presidential candidates. In 2006, I attended Saddleback's World Summit on AIDS where Kansas Senator (R) Sam Brownback and Illinois Senator Barack O'bama spoke before a packed house. Alining himself with both sides, Warren is in an interesting and powerful position. I think everyone is anxious to evaluate the quality and merit of the questions that will be posed to McCain and Obama. Will the questions have substance or will they be softball topics that both candidates can spin to their own advantage?

Everyone will have something at stake. For the candidates, it will be a golden opportunity to appeal to the evangelical voters and traditional-value Americans. For Warren, it will be his chance to advocate his vision and social gospel known as the "PEACE Plan" to the nation at large.

With that said, my DVR is set. I am encouraging all my friends to watch with an open mind but to think critically about both candidates and their vision for the nation.

Not On My Amazon Wish List...

Now known as the "Speaker of the Flop," Nancy Pelosi's book entitled, "Know Your Power: A Message to America's Daughters" has sold just under 5,000 units since its release two weeks ago. Way to go! I bet half of those copies were bought by your friends and family. Hopefully the other half were discarded in the trash. I wonder how many trees were wasted to produce this book? Pelosi has appeared on many national tv shows to promote the book but apparently no one is listening.

However, to the shagrin of the NY Times, two of the top five Hardcover Nonfiction books are Anti-Obama. This is all very similar to the 2004 Election when the top seller was "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry" Could history repeat itself? Lets "hope" so...

Ride to the Beach

Today I decided to take my bike and ride from my Irvine apartment to Newport Beach. I googled the distance and it came out to 20.5 miles (one way). It was by far my biggest ride ever on the streets and it was a blast.

BarackBook

The GOP launched a new website. Drawing the guilt by association card, the GOP hopes that Obama's halo can be bent. I don't think it will work though...

Recently, bloggers have been buzzing about Obama's speech in Berlin. Citing that the major news networks failed to mention that his speech was preceeded by two popular German rock bands. Reportedly, only Fox News mentioned this fact.

I must admit. Obama has the best graphic designers in the business. His website, bumper stickers, and graphic art is second to none. They Dems are sly and they are pulling out every trick in the book to steer this man into the White House.

Obey owner Shepard Fairey, has revived the red revolution styled posters. This totally reminds me of the Lenin, Stalin, and Che commie posters. Kinda scary if you ask me.

My Angels

I am proud to state that my Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are the best team in baseball. Yesterday, they acquired one of the premier first basemen in the game: Mark Teixeira. For the last six years, the Angels have lacked a bonafide slugger in their lineup. It has affected them in recent years, and it has been the primary reason why they have been unable to reach the World Series.

By adding Mark Teixeira, it will strengthen our batting lineup that features Vladimir Guerrero, Torii Hunter, and Garret Anderson. Teixeira's imposing presence in the starting lineup will be incalculable. I have been waiting six years for the Angels to finally make a mid-season trade to put our club over the top. The Angels have the best record in baseball (67-40) and many sports writers now believe that the Angels will make it to the World Series.

Now, there is some speculation regarding Teixeira because he will be a free agent after the end of this season. There are some reports that he is asking for a 10 year, 230 million dollar deal. Will the Angels choose to lock him up? That remains to be seen. But in the short term, this is a historic move for the Angels and it will definitely help them in October.

This is a great time to be an Angel fan and I am thrilled to see what will happen in the coming weeks!

A Fair Night

On Friday, my brother and I decided to take a trip down to the OC Fair. Living in Orange County for most of my life, I had never been to the fair on a busy weekend night. Many thanks to EL for the free tickets and for letting us park in front of his house! Here are some pictures from the night.

This was a sand sculpture with some mischievous mice

No, thank you..

For one buck, I saw the largest steer. I thought he looked rather depressed...

An Inconvenient Truth About Health Care...

Fox News provides a closer look at Canada's health care system. Could this be a preview of what America will be like in four years? I hope not... People in America want something for nothing. Free health care is a great idea, but at what cost? Longer waits, poor quality, and inefficiency are only some of the inconvenient truths when you allow the state to provide a service.

Media Bias? The Love Train Continues...

As the media is swooning over Barack Obama's Mid-East tour a new ad hit the internet to poke fun at the apparent bias and infatuation over the Democratic nominee. In a new poll conducted by the Rasmussen Group, nearly 50% of the American public believe that the media favors Obama and only 24 percent say that they trust the media to provide unbiased reporting.
This video is a great and funny response to the "Obama-bots" at NBC, namly Chris Matthews. Just watch the orgasmic Chris Matthews and his colleagues treat Obama more like the Pope instead of a presidential nominee.

Pinhead or Patriot???

One of my favorite commentaries is the "Pinhead or Patriot" segment on the O'Reilly Factor. Everyday, he selects politicians, celebrities, or whoever he considers to fall into these two categories.

I was watching the news today and I noticed that the LA City Council voted on two laws affecting thousands of its citizens. One law is to outlaw the use of plastic bags and the other is to impose a 1 year ban on the opening of any new fast food restaurants in a certain region of the city. Instead of focusing on real problems such as gang warfare, traffic gridlock, and record high school drop out rates, the City Council has devoted their time and resources to combat a grave and evil enemy: Plastic Bags and Consumer Choice.

To me, the 1 year moratorium on fast food is the most disturbing. Most people know that a Big Mac is not the healthiest meal. It is loaded with calories and saturated fat. Anybody with half a brain knows that. But should it be the right of the government to prevent me from choosing to eat at MacDonalds or ordering Chinese food?? Heck No!! This is America. Not Socialist Europe. Sadly, we live in an era where everyone is a victim. Personal responsibility is thrown out the window and in its place Big Brother is the arbiter of choice.

Because the LA City Council has opted to deny American's their basic right to choose where they eat their dinner and what bag they can use without providing an alternative they are most certainly Pinheads.

King of the French Fry - Day 3

My apologies for slacking off on this story. I have had the intention to continue this blog for about a week but I am a person who is distracted easily...

The next leg of our great adventure took us to one of the most beloved fast food joints in Southern California: Del Taco. Whoever decided to serve french fries with tacos deserves a plaque on the wall of the Human Hall of Fame. This time we added another friend to our french fry fellowship, our So Cal sales rep. Brett.

As we all ordered our combos, and here was great anticipation. Del Taco is one of the few establishments to feature crinkle cut fries on their menu. I personally love Del Taco fries because they are so unique and they compliment anything that is offered on the menu. After we completed our meal our scores were recorded:

Me: 5 pts
Joe-Brah: 5 pts
Jim: 7
RA: 8
Total 6.25

I must confess, Joe and I were disappointed with our fries. I thought they were soggy and lacked any crispiness. For that reason, I gave them a moderate rating of 5 points. Jim loves Del Taco fries and even he did not entirely enjoy today's eating experience.

Stussy Livin XL

My buddy Kyle from work found this vintage Stussy ad. I asked around and this ad is at least 21 years old! Wow. Check it.

This Is Why Obama Would Be A Disaster

Barack Obama does not understand the war on terror. He is living in fantasy land if he believes that if we leave Iraq then the Muslims will like us. You cannot appease the Muslim world. Although, I have not agreed with the management of the Iraq war I do believe that we need to be on the offensive. We are no longer protected by two oceans spanning thousands of miles. Within the last seven years, we have significantly disrupted the enemy and must continue to. Leaving Iraq is not the answer.

Today, I see people who have the wool over their eyes. Nobody wants to deal with the real problem. Islam. In its core, Islam cannot spread naturally. Historically, it has survived only through jihad. Obama's view of appeasement is not the answer and will not make American's safer.

Newt Gingrich nailed it when he said that the leadership in the Washington is "sleepwalking."

King of the French Fry - Day 2

The next stop on our quest was the Home of the Whopper - Burger King. Joining us on today's journey was RA's wife and kids. Burger King's fries are of the shoestring variety. They are skinny, yet crispy and have a nice exterior texture. After a grueling half hour we recorded our findings.

RA: 8
Jim: 6
Me: 5
Joe-Brah: 5
Total Score: 6

Defeating the Carl's Jr. fries by the slimmest of margins, I was a bit disappointed. But I still think that the new Carl's fries are the best.

Tomorrow's destination: Del Taco

King of the French Fry

A great debate has been sparked within the Stussy production department. I asserted that the new Carl's Jr. fries are some of the best EVER. To test this claim, on tuesday my friends RA, Jim, and Joe-brah decided to eat at Carl's Jr. We decided to score the fries on a scale of one to ten.
Here are the results:
RA: 1 pt
Jim: 5 pts
Me: 8 pts
Joe-Brah: 8 pts
Total Score: 5.5

Comments: RA "too soggy, don't like the skin on the fries" Jim: "They were ok" Joe-Brah: "Not bad"

Words

This week has been a rough one for Obama. He has flip flopped on how he plans to end the war, calling Iran a "grave threat" two days after saying that Iran was not a "serious threat". The GOP NEEDS to hammer this guy. Obama's views change by the second. This guy is a farce.

I Now Pronounce You...

Tomorrow will be a historic day in California history. On Monday June 16th, same sex marriage will be legal and protected in the Golden State. Voters in the state have twice passed initives to define marriage between a man and woman. I am opposed to the notion that the fight for gay rights is the same as the civil rights movement of the 60's. It is not. I came across this great article concerning this topic. It is an intelligent discussion of the dangers of activist judges and CONSEQUENCES of the legalization of same sex marriage.

Thankfully, there will be a proposition on the November ballot to abolish same sex marriage by inserting a constitutional amendment. Marriage is the foundation of any civil society. If marriage can be reduced to "Party A" and "Party B" then if can mean anything. In effect, marriage will mean nothing and it will erode the fabric of this nation.

Vacancy: Heartbreak Hotel

Disappointed, Disgusted, Devastated. Those are the emotions that I am feeling at this moment. The Lakers blew a 24 point lead to the hated Boston Celtics. I have a few thoughts concerning this night:

1. This solidifies my hatred for the Boston Celtics
2. Michael Jordan would have never allowed a 24 point lead to slip away IN THE FINALS
3. Pau Gasol is one of the softest players in the NBA
4. This loss will hurt for a long time
5. WE NEED ANDREW BYNUM!!!!

Another Showdown

On June 17th, it will be legal in the State of California for gay couples to marry. This is a result of the May 16th decision by the State Supreme Court to declare that to deny marriage to a homosexual couple is unconstitutional. This week, enough signatures were gathered to put a proposition on the November ballot to create a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage once and for all. This is sure to be another epic showdown between those who wish erode the basic family unit and those who have the simple belief that the title of marriage is reserved for a man and a woman.

Dockers Ad

I cannot begin to explain how much I like this song and commercial. It is absolutely perfect. Its a fresh jam and I was hooked on the very first note. The song is a remix by Diplo of Marlena Shaw's cover of "California Soul." The song will be released on June 2nd and it is part of theVerve Remixed 4 compilation. In my mind, it is best song that I have heard this year. If you can't wait until June 2, you can check out Diplo Remix. There is a lot of buzz surrounding this remix and I hope you like it just as much as I do.

Nothing Sacred

Last week, the California State Supreme court issued a landmark decision. In a close 4-3 decision, they single-handedly overthrew the will of the California public by declaring that same sex marriage is legal and protected by the California Constitution. Californian voters have twice passed propositions protecting marriage between a man and a woman. On June 15th, same sex will be legal in the Golden State and there is little we can do about it. As history has shown, once a right is given, rarely is it ever repealed.

I could not disagree more with this decision to destroy the sanctity of marriage but I am not surprised. We live in a post-Christian era where the concept of an Absolute law is no longer present. In its place, the view of Secular Humanism is the dominant view in most classrooms, boardrooms, and courtrooms. It is this world view that enables individuals to arbitrarily decide between right and wrong. Leaving man as the measure of all things, secular humanism is the reason why gay marriage, partial birth abortion, socialism, tyranny, and embryonic stem cell research is allowed. If man is the measure of all things, then anything goes.

My Biking Adventures

Today, for the very first time I rode my bike to work. On Monday, I purchased a bike for the sole purpose of commuting. After talking to a few friends from work who recently purchased bikes, I was motivated to purchase my first bike. Growing up, I never rode often. Our neighborhood was never "bike friendly" because of speeding cars, weird people, and lack of places to ride to. My daily commute to work is 14 miles round trip and even though my truck is excellent on fuel consumption, I felt that now would be a good time to start riding to work. I listed my reasons for this new life change:

1. It is a good form of exercise
2. It saves gas
3. I get to enjoy the day and my community

I am very excited and to be honest, after my first day I am somewhat sore. But, I cannot wait until my next ride and I think that I have finally discovered biking as a new hobby and legitimate form of transportation.

P.C. in Iraq

How are we supposed to win a war when we apologize to the enemy? A copy of the Koran was found rittled with bullets after a US solider used it as target practice. The solider was removed from Iraq and a general apologized in front of the community. Appeasement is not the solution to solve global terrorism.

Do you think the Muslim radicals are apologizing for the countless Iraqi Christians they have slaughtered during the last year???

Otto

I don't know why, but I really like this commercial. I'm a sucker for anybody who can play with words to make a creative advertising campaign. Look for Otto the next time you are in Irvine driving on the 405.

Coldplay Gives So. Cal the Cold Shoulder

Today, Coldplay announced their North America tour. On June 17th, they will release their fourth cd entitled "Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends." The first single from the cd was released last week and I was impressed with the heavy guitar and its darker lyrical tone. Produced by the legendary Brian Eno, this record has the potential to be their best and most experimental body of work.

To my disappointment, the band will skip Southern California entirely on their summer tour. I do not see the logic in this decision. Opting to play in the armpit known as Sacramento and the metropolis of San Jose, instead of LA is a big mistake. Who cares about those two cities??? In California, there are only two venues that matter. LA and San Francisco. Why Coldplay? Needless to say, I am quite irritated.
