Dockers Ad

I cannot begin to explain how much I like this song and commercial. It is absolutely perfect. Its a fresh jam and I was hooked on the very first note. The song is a remix by Diplo of Marlena Shaw's cover of "California Soul." The song will be released on June 2nd and it is part of theVerve Remixed 4 compilation. In my mind, it is best song that I have heard this year. If you can't wait until June 2, you can check out Diplo Remix. There is a lot of buzz surrounding this remix and I hope you like it just as much as I do.

The Greatest Job On Earth

I envy the life of Zane Lamprey. This man travels the globe for one noble cause: to drink anything and everything set before him. Zane has traveled through Europe, Hong Kong, South Korea, Belize, and Japan in search of the finest local beverages. Watch this clip from the Philippines episode. Cheers!

Nothing Sacred

Last week, the California State Supreme court issued a landmark decision. In a close 4-3 decision, they single-handedly overthrew the will of the California public by declaring that same sex marriage is legal and protected by the California Constitution. Californian voters have twice passed propositions protecting marriage between a man and a woman. On June 15th, same sex will be legal in the Golden State and there is little we can do about it. As history has shown, once a right is given, rarely is it ever repealed.

I could not disagree more with this decision to destroy the sanctity of marriage but I am not surprised. We live in a post-Christian era where the concept of an Absolute law is no longer present. In its place, the view of Secular Humanism is the dominant view in most classrooms, boardrooms, and courtrooms. It is this world view that enables individuals to arbitrarily decide between right and wrong. Leaving man as the measure of all things, secular humanism is the reason why gay marriage, partial birth abortion, socialism, tyranny, and embryonic stem cell research is allowed. If man is the measure of all things, then anything goes.

My Biking Adventures

Today, for the very first time I rode my bike to work. On Monday, I purchased a bike for the sole purpose of commuting. After talking to a few friends from work who recently purchased bikes, I was motivated to purchase my first bike. Growing up, I never rode often. Our neighborhood was never "bike friendly" because of speeding cars, weird people, and lack of places to ride to. My daily commute to work is 14 miles round trip and even though my truck is excellent on fuel consumption, I felt that now would be a good time to start riding to work. I listed my reasons for this new life change:

1. It is a good form of exercise
2. It saves gas
3. I get to enjoy the day and my community

I am very excited and to be honest, after my first day I am somewhat sore. But, I cannot wait until my next ride and I think that I have finally discovered biking as a new hobby and legitimate form of transportation.

P.C. in Iraq

How are we supposed to win a war when we apologize to the enemy? A copy of the Koran was found rittled with bullets after a US solider used it as target practice. The solider was removed from Iraq and a general apologized in front of the community. Appeasement is not the solution to solve global terrorism.

Do you think the Muslim radicals are apologizing for the countless Iraqi Christians they have slaughtered during the last year???

Otto

I don't know why, but I really like this commercial. I'm a sucker for anybody who can play with words to make a creative advertising campaign. Look for Otto the next time you are in Irvine driving on the 405.

Coldplay Gives So. Cal the Cold Shoulder

Today, Coldplay announced their North America tour. On June 17th, they will release their fourth cd entitled "Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends." The first single from the cd was released last week and I was impressed with the heavy guitar and its darker lyrical tone. Produced by the legendary Brian Eno, this record has the potential to be their best and most experimental body of work.

To my disappointment, the band will skip Southern California entirely on their summer tour. I do not see the logic in this decision. Opting to play in the armpit known as Sacramento and the metropolis of San Jose, instead of LA is a big mistake. Who cares about those two cities??? In California, there are only two venues that matter. LA and San Francisco. Why Coldplay? Needless to say, I am quite irritated.
